Umrah Visa and Requirements for Singaporeans
Singaporeans apply online for umrah — either the Nusuk umrah e-visa at umrah.nusuk.sa or the Saudi tourist e-visa at visa.visitsaudi.com, which also allows umrah. You need a passport valid six months and a meningitis (MenACWY) certificate.
Getting an umrah visa from Singapore is mostly a practical and administrative task: the right e-visa, a valid passport, the required vaccine, and bookings in the official system. This page covers those requirements — for how umrah is performed, refer to MUIS or a qualified Asatizah.
Which visa Singaporeans use
A Singapore passport is on Saudi Arabia’s direct e-visa list, so Singaporeans can apply online without going through an agent. (You can still book a package with a licensed agent — see how to choose an umrah package.) There are two official online routes:

Verify current requirements on the official Saudi portals before you travel.
- Nusuk umrah e-visa — applied for on the official umrah.nusuk.sa portal. Nusuk is the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s official platform.
- Saudi tourist e-visa — applied for at visa.visitsaudi.com. This visa permits umrah as well as leisure travel, so it suits travellers combining umrah with a wider trip.
Your passport and documents
- Passport valid for at least six months beyond your planned entry date, with at least one blank page.
- A recent passport-style photo (white background), in digital form for the online application.
- Confirmed return flights, plus the hotel and ground-transport bookings described below.
- A working email and phone number, and a card to pay the visa fee.
The mandatory meningitis vaccine
Saudi Arabia requires every umrah pilgrim, from every country, to be vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis (serogroup ACYW) before travelling. Per the Saudi Ministry of Health’s umrah health requirements for 1447H (2026), an acceptable certificate is:
- a quadrivalent (ACYW) or pentavalent (ACYWX) conjugate vaccine received within the last 5 years, or
- a quadrivalent (ACYW) polysaccharide vaccine received within the last 3 years,
and in either case given at least 10 days before arrival. In Singapore the MenACWY vaccine is available at travel clinics and many GPs; keep the official vaccination certificate.
Other vaccines
Polio and yellow fever certificates are required only for travellers arriving from listed countries (mainly parts of Africa and a few others) — Singapore is not on those lists. COVID-19 proof is asked only of defined higher-risk groups, and seasonal influenza is recommended. Requirements change by season, so check the Ministry of Health page before you vaccinate.
After approval: the Nusuk app
Once your visa is approved, set up the Nusuk app before you fly from Changi. In it you:
- book your umrah permit with a date and time slot, and
- if visiting Madinah, reserve a Rawdah visit slot at the Prophet’s Mosque (separate slots for men and women).
At Saudi immigration, have your e-visa, return ticket and MenACWY certificate ready; biometrics are captured on arrival.
Which route should you pick?
Both routes are official and both let you perform umrah, but they suit different trips:
- Nusuk umrah e-visa (umrah.nusuk.sa) is purpose-built for pilgrimage and ties into the permit and Rawdah booking flow. It is the natural choice if umrah is the whole trip.
- Saudi tourist e-visa (visa.visitsaudi.com) is a general multi-entry visitor visa that also permits umrah, so it fits travellers who want to combine the pilgrimage with wider travel in the Kingdom.
Whichever you choose, the passport, MenACWY vaccine and booking requirements above still apply, and you still manage your pilgrimage permit through the Nusuk app. If you are booking through a licensed agent instead, confirm which visa they arrange and that your name and passport details on the visa exactly match your passport.
Umrah versus Hajj for Singaporeans
Umrah can be performed at most times of the year and, unlike the Hajj, needs no MUIS allocation or quota — you arrange it yourself or through a licensed agent. The Hajj for Singaporeans is managed separately with a limited annual quota. For the religious requirements of either, speak to MUIS or a qualified Asatizah.
Before you go
Beyond the visa, prepare your documents, health and packing in good time. Our umrah preparation checklist walks through what to carry and confirm before departure.
For rulings
How umrah is performed, the intention and the rites are religious matters. Refer to MUIS or a qualified Asatizah — this page covers requirements only.
