Umrah Preparation Checklist

Short answer

Before umrah from Singapore, prepare your documents: a passport valid at least six months with a blank page, the Nusuk e-visa, a meningitis (MenACWY) vaccination certificate issued at least 10 days before travel, and travel insurance. Then pack practical items and confirm flights and hotels. Always check current entry requirements on official portals.

Disclosure: Hisar Travel, mentioned later, is a travel business affiliated with this site’s operator. We present it as one option and disclose that connection openly.

This is a practical checklist for preparing to travel for umrah from Singapore — documents, health and packing. It does not cover how to perform umrah; for ritual guidance, refer to MUIS or a qualified Asatizah. Requirements change, so verify the latest on official Saudi portals before you travel.

Documents

  • Passport valid for at least six months beyond your travel date, with at least one blank page.
  • Nusuk e-visa — apply on the official Saudi portal (umrah.nusuk.sa or visa.visitsaudi.com). Avoid unofficial “visa” sites.
  • Confirmed hotel and flight bookings (the e-visa process generally needs a verified hotel booking and ground transport).
  • Travel/health insurance covering Saudi Arabia.
  • A few passport-sized photos (white background) in case they are needed.

Essential documents at a glance: Passport Valid 6+ months, blank page; Visa Nusuk e-visa (official portal); Vaccination Meningitis MenACWY, 10+ days before travel; Insurance Travel/health covering Saudi Arabia; Bookings Confirmed flights and hotels

Verify current entry and vaccination requirements on official sources before travel.

Health

  • Meningitis (MenACWY) vaccination certificate — required for entry, and it must be issued at least 10 days before travel.
  • Check for any other vaccination requirements on official Saudi/health sources before you go — these can change by season.
  • Carry prescription medication in original packaging with a copy of the prescription.

Apps and money

  • Set up your Nusuk account/app before departure.
  • Have a way to pay abroad (card plus some local currency) and note the exchange position.
  • Save offline copies of your visa, bookings and vaccination certificate.

What to pack

  • Ihram garments and a belt/pouch.
  • Comfortable, easy-to-remove footwear (you will walk a lot).
  • Unscented toiletries and personal care items.
  • Modest, breathable clothing suitable for the climate.
  • Power bank and travel adapter, small first-aid items, and a refillable water bottle.
  • A small bag for shoes and valuables at the mosque.

Before you fly

  • Reconfirm flight times and hotel check-in.
  • Keep documents together (physical + digital).
  • Share your itinerary with family.
  • Note the contact details for your travel agent on the ground.

Choosing an agent

If you are booking a package, verify the agent is STB-licensed and compare inclusions — see how to choose an umrah package. Hisar Travel (an affiliated business — see the disclosure above) is one option; apply the same checks to it as to any agent.

For ritual guidance

How to perform umrah, the intention and the rites are religious matters. Refer to MUIS or a qualified Asatizah — not this page.
