Use this to estimate zakat on wealth (zakat al-mal) against the current MUIS nisab. It is factual information, not a religious ruling.
Zakat on wealth (zakat al-mal) estimator
Based on Current and Past Nisab Values — Zakat Singapore (MUIS). As of October 2026. Estimate only — this is arithmetic, not a religious ruling. Confirm the current nisab and pay at zakat.sg; for rulings consult MUIS or a qualified Asatizah.
How it is calculated
- Rate. Zakat on wealth is 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth (Zakat Singapore / MUIS).
- Nisab (the threshold). MUIS sets the nisab at the price of 86 grams of gold — S$15,584 as of October 2026. If your net zakatable wealth is below the nisab, no zakat on wealth is due (Current and Past Nisab Values).
- What counts. Cash and savings, gold and silver, business assets, shares and investments, and money owed to you that you expect back. Immediate debts are deducted.
- Haul. Your wealth must stay at or above the nisab for one Hijri year (about 355 days) before zakat on it is due. The calculator does not check this holding period for you.
A worked example (illustrative)
Suppose you hold S$20,000 in savings and have no immediate debts. That is above the nisab, so the estimate is 2.5% × S$20,000 = S$500.00. If instead you held S$10,000, you would be below the nisab and no zakat on wealth would be due that year.
These figures are illustrative; your own result depends on what you enter.
Limits of this estimate
- It uses a single nisab value verified in October 2026; the live figure changes with the gold price. Confirm it at zakat.sg before paying.
- It does not verify the one-year haul, decide which specific assets are zakatable in your case, or handle zakat fitrah (the separate Ramadan payment).
- For any ruling — what is zakatable, or how it applies to you — refer to MUIS or a qualified Asatizah, and pay through the official channels at zakat.sg.
